Rev. Dr Roger Chilton Senior Minister |
![]() |
|
Roger has been the Rector (Senior Minister) at St. Swithuns since January 1996. He is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the Parish and takes a particular interest in the two morning services as well as weddings and funerals. Prior to coming to Pymble, Roger was the Vicar (Rector) of the Parish of Walcha in the Armidale Diocese. Roger was a solicitor before studying for the ministry at Regent College in Vancouver, at Oxford University and Moore College, Sydney. Apart from his work at St. Swithuns, Roger is a Trustee of Moore College, a member of the Barker School Council, and also serves on the Boards of MCSI and the Bible Society NSW. I find myself walking often past the house where I was born so I guess I am a local although I lived out of the area for many years. I love parish ministry and cannot think of a more worthwhile way of spending my life than in the Lord's service in the ordained ministry. More than this, our family has found a spiritual home here and all of us enjoy being part of the worshiping, praying and witnessing community of believers in Pymble. St. Swithuns is a very special church because it comprises a diverse group of people who belong to Jesus Christ. We are glad to be known as evangelical Anglicans who are committed to the Bible and evangelism but also very conscious that we belong to the Anglican Church in this Diocese and worldwide. This is reflected in our commitment to mission and in the Anglican liturgical tradition of our services.
